Ethics of technology

The rapid pace at which technology is advancing leaves us little time to think about what role we want it to play in our society. Ethics of Technology considers the moral aspect of this question. During the course, we discussed ethical theories in discussion groups and I presented my essay on the ethical complications of the metaverse to fellow students in a critical discussion.

This course provided me with the tools and resources to critically evaluate technologies from an ethical standpoint, equipping me with the knowledge required to build a comprehensive vocabulary to share and discuss the moral dimensions of technological concepts with others. It has changed my awareness of the relationship between technology and society, and has enabled me to better comprehend my role as a design engineer in the wider context of society. By engaging with this course, I have developed a deeper understanding of the implications of technology, and the importance of considering ethical considerations when designing and building technologies.
